Parent Involvement
Getting parents involved is an essential part of helping my students succeed in school. As a part of David Johnson and Roger Johnson's Three C's of School and Classroom Management, getting parents involved in meaningful school activities contributes to the cooperation between them and myself. Through my weekly online newsletters, monthly letters and e-mails, and screencasts that I will be sending home with the students, I hope to create a connection with parents and gain their support in helping the students achieve academic success.
Weekly Newsletter
Each week, I will send home a newsletter that consists of what we have been working on in class and skills we have covered, our classroom rules, and any events that will be taking place in class. This newsletter is to inform parents of their children's learning experiences in class. My newsletter will also be posted online for parents to access from anywhere.
Screencast
A screencast will also be posted on my weekly online newsletters. These are digital recordings of video screen captures. These will have audio narration and are used to demonstrate how to navigate my online newsletter.
