Classroom Rules
I believe it is important to enforce classroom rules starting from the first day of school because students will be able to develop self-discipline later on. I, as a teacher, will not need to constantly fix my students' behaviors if classroom rules are set early on. These rules must be appropriate, fair, and clearly explained to my students so they will know what is expected of them in the classroom. I will go over the rules with my students and they will be allowed to give their input on the rules that will be established in the classroom. Allowing students to have a hand in creating the classroom rules gives them a sense of ownership and they will be more likely to follow the rules that they have created. I will make sure to send home a letter to parents indicating the classroom rules so that they are aware of what the rules are and to help their children follow those rules. Modeling the behaviors that are expected of my students will give them an idea of how they should behave in the classroom as well as how they should treat others.
